New North Vancouver waterfront art gallery breaks ground:  Construction of two-level waterfront building supported by large donations. Boosted by the addition of a $750,000 donation, the Polygon Gallery in the City of North Vancouver started construction Monday morning. The new two-level gallery is being built at the foot of Lonsdale on the waterfront. At more than 24,000 square feet, the new gallery is expected to be finished next year and have a fall opening. The Polygon Gallery will be the new home of Presentation House Gallery. The Vancouver Sun, January 19, 2016

Bacon’s brilliance bound up in a new catalogue: The book will list all of Francis Bacon’s works, including 100 previously unpublished paintings. A new catalogue listing all the paintings of Dublin-born artist Francis Bacon is to be published in April and will sell for £1,000 (approximately ¤1,300). The late artist’s estate has announced that Francis Bacon: Catalogue Raisonné will present “the entire oeuvre of the artist’s work for the first time”.  Irish Times, January 16, 2016

South Korea tops global list for private art museums: Private Art Museum Report highlights rapid rise of institutions across the world over the past decade. The Private Art Museum Report, an international research project initiated by the art collector database Larry’s List and Art Market Monitor of Artron, is one of the first systematic efforts to understand the rapid rise of private museums over the past decade.
